My visit to Glo de Vie Med Spa was a trio of firsts: It was the first time I visited the newly opened North Hills spa, the first time I experienced a Vibraderm treatment, and to the best of my knowledge, I was the spa’s first customer.
I didn’t know much about Vibraderm, but I assumed that at least part of the treatment was going to consist of somebody or something vibrating my skin. To what end, I wasn’t sure.
I’d read the innovative procedure described as “yoga for the skin,” heard that it makes microdermabrasion seem like the dark ages and knew that according to “Access Hollywood,” it’s all the rage with movie stars, especially for pre-award show pampering. You didn’t think their shoulders glowed naturally, did you?
Yes, I said shoulders – and elbows and décolletage as well as sun-damaged faces. Vibraderm can be used on just about anypart of the body.
Here’s how the procedure goes: The aesthetician used a lightly abrasive stainless steel paddle to vibrate my facial skin, gently sloughing off the sun-damaged outer layer. The technology is designed to restore skin’s youthful glow and texture, making it smoother and brighter after just one treatment. Think of it as a kinder, gentler, exfoliation treatment. A series of three or more treatments is said to promote collagen production. In other words, new skin equals soft skin.
The treatment was extremely comfortable if not downright relaxing. I was in and out in 30 minutes and experienced no discomfort either during or after treatment. Next time (and there will definitely be a next time) I’ll add a facial; it seems Vibraderm makes the skin more receptive to penetrating treatments such as the enzyme application used at Glo de Vie. |
